Terms and conditions
The rules for using the OpenLimiter website and software, and the terms of the Pro subscription. They are meant to be clear and practical.
Acceptance
By accessing or using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using the website. Your use of the software is governed separately by its licence, and buying Pro adds the subscription sections below.
Software licence
OpenLimiter is free open source software made available under the Apache License 2.0. That licence, rather than these website terms, governs your right to use, copy, modify, and distribute the software.
The account and Pro
An account is free, and everything you can see locally stays free with or without one. Signing in turns sync on, because moving your own percentages between your own devices is what signing in is for. Pro is five features: every alert, ninety day hosted history and forecast, more than one account per provider, one Pro display preset, and the API spend beta above the free ceiling. Three are hosted services and two are switches in the local application. The free limit of one account per provider is enforced by the desktop application as a policy in open source code rather than as a security boundary, which is a promise about how the product behaves and not a technical restriction.
Billing
Pro costs 5 US dollars a month or 50 US dollars a year, and the first 30 days are free with no card required. OpenLimiter Pro is sold by Lucas Costa. Payments are taken by Stripe, which acts as the payment processor and holds your card details. A billing address is collected for invoicing. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it.
Cancellation
You can cancel at any time from the Stripe Customer Portal, reached from the billing screen in your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for: Pro features keep working until that date and then stop. Cancelling does not delete your data, and everything local keeps working exactly as it did.
Refunds
A full refund is available on request within 14 calendar days of any charge, monthly or annual, without needing a reason. Write to the address at the foot of this page and say which charge it is about. A confirmed full refund cancels that subscription immediately and ends Pro, and it never touches anything stored on your own machine. After 14 days a charge is not automatically refundable, and a request is still read and answered.
Failed payments
If a payment fails, Pro enters a past due state and you keep hosted access for a fixed 72 hours from that first failure. Further retries and further failed attempts do not extend that window. Paying the outstanding invoice within it restores access straight away. If the invoice is still unpaid when the window closes, the hosted features stop and everything local keeps working. A later successful payment can restore access unless the subscription has already been cancelled or refunded.
No warranty
The website, the software and the hosted services are provided as is and as available. We do not promise that they will always be accurate, complete, secure, or available. Quota readings come from interfaces the providers control and can change without notice, so a reading may be missing, stale, or wrong, and it must never be your only safeguard against exceeding a limit. To the fullest extent allowed by law, all warranties are disclaimed.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Lucas Costa and the OpenLimiter contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, revenue, or opportunities, resulting from your use of, or inability to use, the website, the software or the hosted services. Any liability that the law does not allow us to exclude is limited to the amount you paid in the twelve months before the claim, or the minimum the law permits if that is greater.
External links
This website may link to services that OpenLimiter does not control, and the product reads interfaces that belong to other companies. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for their content, availability, or conduct, and nothing here creates a relationship with them or an endorsement by them.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the website, the software, the subscription, or applicable law changes. New terms take effect when they are published on this page. Continued use of the website after an update means that you accept the revised terms. A change that affects an active subscription is announced before it applies to it.
Privacy
What is collected, where it goes and how long it is kept is set out in the privacy policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: local mode collects nothing, and the account exists only to carry your own quota readings and your subscription.
